Committees

Myrtle Beach Area COC committeesThe Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce exists to promote, protect and improve Grand Strand businesses. The chamber does so through the work of its board of directors and committees, as well as special task forces appointed as needed. Committees are made up of representatives of member businesses and organizations who serve a one-year term.

The standing committees are:

  • The Membership Committee oversees the programs and services designed to serve the chamber's members. This committee seeks to grow the chamber's membership by attracting new members and retaining current members.   • The North Strand Council is made up of chamber business members located in the North Strand area. Their primary role is to address issues and interests of businesses in the North Strand and coordinate with other organizations with common goals.   • The South Strand Council is made up of chamber business members located in the South Strand area. Their primary role is to address issues and interests of businesses in the South Strand and coordinate with other organizations with common goals.   • The Business Ethics and Standards Committee is a joint committee of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and the Myrtle Beach Area Hospitality Association, working cooperatively to maintain appropriate business standards in the Grand Strand community. The Business Ethics and Standards Committee provides a forum for opportunities to improve service and visitor experience while visiting the Myrtle Beach area.   • The Small Business Council serves as the voice of small business and acts as an advocate and resource for small business members. For more information, e-mail the executive vice president of membership programs and services. Committee Chair - Wayne Morris
  • The Young Professionals Council works to provide constructive social networking, professional development, and community engagement to young professionals in and around the Grand Strand area.   • The Advertising & Publicity Committee oversees the various activities related to marketing of tourism for the Myrtle Beach Area. The committee also provides strategic direction related to public relations and publicity of the Grand Strand area to regional, national and international markets.   • The Fulfillment Committee oversees the production of chamber publications. The committee has a twofold purpose. First, to set, solicit, and award printer bids.   • The CVB - Group Sales Committee oversees various initiatives designed to increase the level of group business. Key markets include corporate meetings, association meetings, group tours, international tourism and sports events. For more information, e-mail the director of the convention bureau.   • The Finance Review Committee reviews regular financial statements of the chamber and oversees the audit and budget process. For more information, e-mail the chief financial officer. - Committee Chair - Franklin Daniels
  • The Legislative Policy Council monitors public policy as it relates to the business community and studies issues relevant to the chamber's membership. This council recommends stances to be taken on specific legislative proposals and coordinates with other entities to evaluate possible or necessary legislation.
