What is a chamber of commerce?

A chamber of commerce is a community association made up of business people for the promotion of commercial interests. A chamber of commerce is not an entity of city government. Although the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce receives some funding form local and state governments, these dollars are in the form of grants earmarked solely for marketing the area. No government money is used toward the organization's operations.

Unlike most chambers nationwide, the Myrtle Beach are Chamber of Commerce encompasses convention and visitor bureau functions, making it the area's primary destination-marketing organization. While promoting tourism, the Grand Strand's top industry, is a major part of the chamber's program of work, the chamber offers benefits and services of value to businesses of every size and type.

Who belongs to the chamber?

Our members include retailers, restaurants, hotels, professionals, service businesses, property owners, civic organizations, and concerned members of our community. The common thread among our members is that they care about business.
