Leading Business of the Month Sponsored by South State Bank

Leading Business of the Month

For 56 years Coastal Engravers Inc. has created the precious items that hold the memories of a lifetime. As a Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce investor for 39 years, Coastal Engravers was named the Leading Business of the Month for May.

While stationed at Myrtle Beach Air Force Base in the late 1950s, Dick and Barbara Hawes began engraving military name tags and bowling trophies out of their home. In 1962, Coastal Engravers Inc. was established and opened in the old Pavilion building by the ocean.

Coastal Engravers. is still family owned and operated with two locations. The North Myrtle Beach location is run by David Hawes and his wife, Susan, and the Myrtle Beach location is run by Sherry Hawes Evans.

Coastal Engravers specializes in custom plaques, trophies, awards, signs, name tags, keepsakes, ornaments and just about anything you can imagine. The talented staff engraves metal, glass, crystal, acrylic, wood and many other materials. Their custom laser engraving can transfer text and images to almost any surface.

"Our parents would be very proud of Coastal Engravers and what this local family business has been able to continue to create to help our customers show their appreciation and recognize winners in our community," noted Sherry Hawes Evans. "We have a motto that says, 'Your Imagination is Our Limitation.' We strive to customize awards for the individual; to make each one special for the recipient."
