Myrtle Beach Area Golf
With 102 golf courses, the Myrtle Beach area contributes a large potion of the golf revenue within the state. While the quantity is certainly impressive, the quality is nothing short of awesome. Challenging layouts, stunning vistas, and impeccably maintained fairways and greens are the hallmark of the courses that make up the world's most impressive collection of public courses.

General Information
Area golf courses have been designed by some of the best-known names in golf including Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Rees Jones, Greg Norman, Tom Fazio and Davis Love III. Golf course architects have taken great care and consideration in protecting the natural habitat and wildlife indigenous to this area while creating technically challenging courses.
During 2008, the Myrtle Beach area hosted the world's largest amateur golf tournament, the PGA Tour Superstore World Amateur Handicap Championship, where approximately 4,000 golfers enjoyed playing 72 holes of intense stroke-play competition, an 18-hole championship playoff and nightly entertainment. Additionally, the area hosted the 14th Annual Hootie and the Blowfish Monday after the Masters Celebrity Pro-Am Tournament which raised close to $450,000 for junior golf and education charities. Many local courses host numerous golf tournaments, which include the Summer Family Tournaments, the Palmetto Golf Championship, the Veterans Golf Classic, FDNY 9/11 Memorial Golf Outing and the national Father/Son Tournament.
Although golf is played throughout the year, spring and autumn are the busiest seasons due to the milder climate. Golf packages include room and greens fees.
