Tell us about your business and the role you play in it.

My name is Kimberly Meadows and I’m the owner of Birchin Lane Coffee Co. We are a local, family-owned business right here in Myrtle Beach, SC. We offer a wide variety of artisan-style roasted coffee, all roasted daily in house, and a full service espresso bar.

Where did your vision begin? How has it grown?

My love of coffee began when I was very young and I would sneak sips of my mom's coffee and dip cookies into it! My husband and I had our first date at a coffee shop many years ago. My passion for coffee helped me take a leap of faith and retire from my job in the metal industry and open our first coffee shop in the Kansas City, MO area. It grew into a roasting company, bakery and cafe. After re-locating to the SC area, I knew this area needed an artisan-style coffee presence. Best decision EVER!

What makes your organization stand out?

Our LOVE for the product and our customers! Our philosophy is “don’t make it complicated,” but know the complexities that you are working with. Always make it about the customer. Our goal is to create products that you enjoy...and we listen. We constantly try new things, we let you try new things. Then guess who gets the last vote? YOU!

What’s your favorite part of doing business in the Grand Strand?

We love the people! Locals and visitors alike! It's so amazing to meet people from all over and hear their stories. It's always exciting to see orders come through for orders to ship beans all over the US from customers that visited on their vacations!

Where did your career find its start?

We began our coffee journey in the Kansas City, MO area and opened up our first shop in the historic district. We relocated to a larger space with more dining and a drive-thru. We sold that business and moved to SC in 2021.
