Keep Myrtle Beach Beautiful (KMBB) received an award from the South Carolina Litter Control Association (SCLCA) during the 2024 Litter Summit, held Sept. 4-6 in Myrtle Beach. The Lower Region Group Leadership Award was presented to Keep Myrtle Beach Beautiful in recognition of the organization’s “remarkable leadership in promoting litter awareness, prevention and clean up for the State of South Carolina.”
Throughout the past year, Keep Myrtle Beach Beautiful has hosted over a dozen beautification events, which have significantly reduced litter and raised awareness about the importance of maintaining a clean environment. The organization also received a grant from Palmetto Pride for 24 cigarette canisters that are currently being installed throughout the city of Myrtle Beach to assist with litter removal efforts.
“We are incredibly honored to receive this recognition,” said Yaritza Tinoco, Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce’s community engagement manager and KMBB liaison. “This award is a testament to the hard work of our volunteers, partners and community members who tirelessly strive to make Myrtle Beach a cleaner, more beautiful place to live and visit.”
Held by SCLCA, Palmetto Pride and Keep South Carolina Beautiful, the 2024 Litter Summit brings together environmental leaders, community advocates and government officials from across the state to discuss strategies for combating litter and promoting sustainable practices.
