Are you up to the challenge?

Since March 12th, Horry County residents have been self-responding to the 2020 Census and while many have stepped up and answered the call, we still have a LONG way to go. 

Hi, I’m Karen Riordan, president and CEO of your Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, and I’m joining the Census Bureau in challenging everyone to help ensure a complete and accurate count in 2020. Have you taken the 2020 Census?

The census determines congressional representation and helps decision-makers in Washington, D.C., Columbia and our Horry County municipalities determine how to allocate and spend billions of dollars annually for critical public services, including hospitals, schools and roads, which in turn will generate opportunities for our private sector businesses.

School lunches. Plans for highways. Support for first responders and families in need. Census results affect our Horry County community every day.

And as a business owner, you will soon be getting a treasure trove of information that will help you make decisions that affect work, employees and local customers. The census results will provide a rich set of data on Horry County, including population trends and growth projections to help guide your business plans for years to come.

Now is the perfect time to complete the census for your household while most of us are at staying at home.

You can take the census either online or by phone, all without having to meet with a census taker.

Once you have responded, please encourage your family and friends to complete the census, too.

As your chamber president, I often rely on our collective voice in the work I do for the Myrtle Beach area business community. Now I am asking for your help to be sure we are heard loud and clear.
