“We highly value our resident’s participation and believe that their insights are crucial to the process and the overall effectiveness of creating a Destination Stewardship Plan that aligns with the aspirations and needs of our entire community,” said Karen Riordan, MBACC and CVB President and CEO.

To create the Destination Stewardship Plan for the region, the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber and CVB recently partnered with MMGY NextFactor, an internationally renowned advisor in travel and tourism. The company has worked with more than 300 destinations to develop comprehensive strategies that balance the health of visitor economies with the long-term wellbeing of the community and ecosystem.

Along with the planned town hall sessions, MMGY NextFactor staff are conducting interviews and focus groups with local civic leaders, government officials, business owners and industry leaders from various sectors.

The Destination Stewardship Plan is expected to be completed by the end of the year and provide goal-oriented action steps to managing community sustainability and economic growth.
