Hurricane Helene caused widespread damage to communities in western North and South Carolina. Businesses across the Grand Strand have quickly stepped up to help support people in affected counties.
Residents in South Carolina who have questions about Hurricane Helene can call the state’s toll-free hotline. Operators with the State’s Public Information Phone System are available 24 hours a day for as long as needed.

S.C. Emergency Management Division says monetary donations are often most helpful. They’ve compiled a list of organizations statewide where donations can be made. You can also sign up as a volunteer to assist in this disaster or for future needs.
The United Way Association of South Carolina established a disaster fund. 100 percent of donations will be given to counties affected by Hurricane Helene. Donate to the disaster fund.
Beach Automotive Group is collecting donations at all of their Myrtle Beach locations. Supplies needed include: nonperishable foods, bottled water, contractor size garbage bags, blankets, first aid supplies, hand sanitizer, toilet paper, paper towels, bleach, shovels, brooms, gloves, coolers, cook stoves (propane), flashlights, batteries, cleaning supplies, personal hygiene products, dust mask, rakes, cleaning rags and mops.
All Black’s Tire & Auto Service locations are collecting items and donations. Items will be collected until further notice. Most needed items include bottled drinks, flash lights, batteries, toiletries, toilet paper, paper towels, baby wipes, baby formula, hand sanitizer, trash bags, tarps, work gloves. Items may also be shipped to the BTS Distribution (Hurricane Relief), 30 Bitmore Rd., Whiteville, NC 28472.
Coastal Carolina University is collecting non-perishable food items and disaster relief supplies to bring from The Beach to Boone. Donations will be accepted through Nov. 8 and can be dropped off at 132 Chanticleer Drive W., Conway, Arcadia Hall Office #102.
Coastal Concepts is collecting donations of nonperishable foods, toiletries, flash lights, dish soap, trash bags, batteries and toilet paper. Items can be dropped off at The Sneaky Beagle, Grumpy Monk, Hop ‘N Wich or Crabby Dog Eats locations.
All Kösta Bowls locations are collecting donations for those impacted in Western North Carolina. Items collected include: water, sports drinks, hydration packets, baby wipes, diapers for children and adults, baby formula, bug spray, sunscreen, disposable plates and utensils, manual can openers, trash bags, non-perishable foods, cleaning supplies, plastic sheeting/tarps, toothbrushes, toothpaste, toiletries, pet foot, hand sanitizer, sanitizer wipes, feminine hygiene products, heavy duty work gloves and new, unopened socks in al sizes.
Southern House of Pancakes is collecting items between through Oct. 1. They have partnered with Spokes of Hope and Salt Life Church to bring aid to the victims of hurricane Helene. Donations of of water, can goods, pet food, batteries, flashlights, and all nonperishable items. Please drop off at Southern House of Pancakes between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m.
The Boone Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation is accepting donations to help with community and business relief in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene’s impact on the High Country. Gifts can be made at boonechamber.com/foundation and the chamber will distribute funds locally to businesses and community efforts as needs are further assessed throughout Watauga County over the days and weeks ahead.
