Why Should You Attend the Legislative Reception in Columbia?

Join the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce in Columbia Wednesday, March 4, from 6-9 p.m. at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center for the 2020 Grand Strand Legislative Reception.

The Legislative Reception is a time for you, as a chamber investor, to meet with your legislators and share your thoughts about key topics affecting our area and your business. The reception falls during the middle of many important debates on issues that will impact the Grand Strand. Here are just a few examples:

• Reforms to the business license fee structure and collection process;
• An education overhaul to help propel S.C. students to the top in the southeast;
• The state budget which has a significant surplus this fiscal year;
• Statewide infrastructure improvements including roads and beach maintenance.

You won’t just meet local legislators during the reception; you will also meet lawmakers from other counties and statewide Cabinet members who want to hear directly from you on how they can work with us to help keep the Myrtle Beach area economy humming.

Whether you want to talk about these issues or others, the reception provides you the opportunity to thank your legislators for their hard work on your behalf. The chamber is offering a complimentary bus that will pick up from MBACC headquarters (1200 N. Oak St.) to take you to the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. The bus will also stop at Aynor High School (201 Jordanville Rd.) Make sure you reserve your seat on the shuttle when you register for the event.
