Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce Appoints Patrick Norton of Brittain Resorts to Chair the 2025 Board of Directors

Eight New Board Members Appointed for Three-Year Terms

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.—The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce (MBACC) and Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is pleased to announce Patrick Norton will chair the chamber’s esteemed board of directors for 2025. Norton, who is currently serving his second term on the board, is the chief marketing officer of Brittain Resorts and Hotels, for which he has worked for the past 16 years.

“I’m honored to be elected as the board chair and to serve the Grand Strand in this role,” Norton said. “Through its mission to promote, protect and improve the Myrtle Beach area, the chamber’s staff and board of directors are committed to strengthening our business community and improving the quality of life for all residents.”

In addition, Norton thanked outgoing chamber board chair John Ruthenberg for his leadership over the past year. “John’s dedication to the chamber and its pursuits deserves the utmost praise,” he added.

Norton holds a Master of Business Administration from Johns Hopkins Carey Business School and certifications in hotel investment and asset management from Cornell University.

He spends much of his free time with his family and serving the community through various local organizations.

In addition to electing Norton, MBACC board members designated eight new directors who will formally join the board in January and serve three-year terms: Charlie Belissary, Downwind Sails; Kasey Herrington, OrthoSC; Suzanne Hinde, Sheraton Myrtle Beach; Jon Konkel, A & I Fire and Water Restoration; Mark Lazarus, Lazarus Entertainment Group; Tom Tse, Avista/Seaside Resorts; and Jordan Watkins, The Carolina Opry.

Sixteen members will remain on the board next year as their terms continue through 2025 or 2026. They are as follows: John Anderson, HTC; Sean Bailey, SkyWheel; Dr. Michael Benson, Coastal Carolina University; Chad Carlson, Burroughs & Chapin; Tony Cox, S.C. Dept. of Transportation; Scott Dietrich, Edward Jones; Hatton Gravely, YMCA of Coastal Carolina; Lori Heafner, Horry Georgetown Technical College; Radha Herring, Watermark Real Estate; Mayur Jeram, New Horizon Hospitality; Matt Klugman, Vacation Myrtle Beach; Kelli Lane, Hook & Barrel; Mark Loos, Tidelands Health; Declan McGonigal, myBeach Vacation Rentals; Bhumi Patel, Burr & Forman LLC; and Jay Smith, Prestwick Country Club.

“To have such a diverse and knowledgeable group of individuals represent the chamber board is truly an asset to our entire community,” said MBACC and CVB Interim President and CEO Tracy Conner. “This board of directors led by our newly elected chair, Patrick Norton, will guide the chamber and CVB on its continued mission to deliver best-in-class accountability to our membership and community by delivering resources that strengthen all facets of life here along the Grand Strand.”

16th Annual Shuckin' on the Strand Oyster Roast

The Shuckin’ on the Strand Oyster Roast is the Grand Strand’s largest oyster roast, open to the public and serving up oysters, food and fixins. All proceeds benefit the Substitutes for Santa, an annual event hosted by GSYP every December to give local children a Christmas.
