Building strong foundations is a tenet of our November Leading Business of the Month sponsored by South State Bank.
BEC is a multi-generational, family-owned and operated construction company. Members since 1990, BEC Construction builds custom homes and commercial properties across the Grand Strand.
Those strong foundations extend to the relationships with their clients. According to BEC Construction, their main source of business is repeat clients, or referrals from previous jobs.
Berry Coggeshall established the company in the mid-1980s after working initially as a real estate broker. His son Beck joined the family business in 2013 after seven years in the upstate of South Carolina where he earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree at Clemson University. Beck is an ambassador for Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce.
Recent commercial projects for BEC Construction include the new Pawleys Island Town Hall, the professional building on the 82nd Avenue Parkway, the renovations at Bar Louie at Broadway at the Beach and the South Strand Commons shopping center that includes Panera Bread.
BEC Construction also has developed entire neighborhoods, including Allston River Bluffs, Allston Plantation, Collins Creek Landing, Prince Creek West, Marsh Point and South Marsh.
If you’re a fan of HGTV, you’ll love seeing the residential portfolio on the company’s website showcasing recent homes, including several beachfront properties.

About Leading Business of the Month
The first Wednesday of every month, Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce announces a Leading Business of the Month. This special promotion, sponsored by South State Bank, recognizes a company that has been a member of Myrtle Beach Area Chamber for a minimum of five years. The business is randomly selected. The company displays a banner at their place of business for one month recognizing them as the Leading Business of the Month.
Sponsorship provides our investors the opportunity for recognition and publicity. For some events, sponsorship will also include tickets to the event, the opportunity to speak to attendees or to distribute promotional items. Check out the Investment and Sponsorship Program and stretch your marketing budget.
