Carolina Trust Federal Credit Union has been named one of the 2019 Best Credit Unions to Work For. Credit Union Journal has partnered with Best Companies Group to identify companies that have excelled in creating quality workplaces for employees. This survey and awards program is designed to identify, recognize and honor the best credit unions. The 2019 list is made up of 50 credit unions. City of Myrtle Beach received the Robert L. Wiegel Coastal Project Award for its beach preservation and restoration projects dating back to the 1980s. The award was presented during the American Shore & Beach Preservation Association Conference at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. The national award is the ASBPA’s most prestigious project award. It’s presented to a coastal project that has stood the test of time and has shown a positive environmental, social and/or recreational benefit. Myrtle Beach’s long history of beach renourishment and preservation is detailed in the ASBPA’s October magazine, Shore & Beach, which features the Myrtle Beach coast on the cover.

Horry-Georgetown Technical College Addiction and Recovery Lecture Series Founder, Professor Casey King, was recently honored as the Community Advocate of the Year by Faces and Voices of Recovery-Grand Strand (FAVOR). FAVOR Grand Strand's First Annual Awards Banquet was held at the Maeser Auditorium on the HGTC Grand Strand Campus this month. The award was in recognition of King’s work in creating and organizing the annual HGTC Addiction and Recovery Lecture Series which features celebrity and professional speakers from across the country held at HGTC since 2008.

Horry-Georgetown Technical College announced that “Stolen Babies of Spain,” a new documentary film presented by ValMar Films, and whose executive producer is HGTC’s very own Dr. Maravillas “Mara” Lencina, was selected to be screened at the Great Lakes International Film Festival.

The Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives, a national nonprofit association for chamber of commerce professionals recognized Pam Wright, business development manager for the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, for being 4th in the country for new member sales in the first quarter of 2019-2020 in the revenue category of +2 million dollars. Top sales professionals in each of three dues income categories are recognized based on total number and dollar value of new member sale by ACCE’s Membership Development Division Circle of Champions program.

RE/MAX Southern Shores announced that the following agents were recently awarded the Real Estate Negotiation Expert Certification: Carmen Bantugan, Iris Borrero, Kristin Boullion, Anna Marie Brock, Bethany Cornelison, Beth Douglas, Vickie Hamby, Eileen Henriksen, Seth June, Ambyr Lobins, Betty Meekins, Brandi Minchillo, Marco Morales, Dan Ober, Michele Rappa, Holly Schrieber, Shane Stilinger, Barbara Treacy, Lori White and Sharon Carroll.

Santee Cooper has earned a Smart Energy Provider (SEP) designation from the American Public Power Association for demonstrating a commitment to and proficiency in energy efficiency, distributed generation and environmental initiatives that support a goal of providing low-cost, quality, safe and reliable electric service.

Dr. Lucretia Carter, a board-certified pediatrician, has joined Tidelands Health medical staff. Dr. Carter provides a broad range of care for patients from birth to young adulthood.
