Champion Autism Network was named our August Nonprofit of the Month sponsored by South Atlantic Bank.
Champion Autism Network is a nonprofit autism awareness organization founded by Becky Large in Surfside Beach. Through education and training CAN helps create and ensure inclusive communities.
The training efforts led to Surfside Beach becoming the first autism-friendly travel destination in the world in 2016. The City of Myrtle Beach added the distinction in 2018.
CAN also hosts sensory-friendly events for families of people with autism and sensory issues.
Each month, Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce announces a nonprofit of the month. This special promotion sponsored by South Atlantic Bank recognizes an outstanding nonprofit that is an investor with Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce. The organization displays a banner at their place of business for one month recognizing them as the Nonprofit of the Month.
