On Sunday, July 17 at 5 p.m., Stone Theatres - Grand 14 at Market Common in Myrtle Beach will show a free screening of the new SCETV documentary “Our Vanishing Americana - A South Carolina Portrait.”
The one-hour film follows Mike Lassiter on his journey across South Carolina and captures the stories of historic, often family-run businesses that line main streets from the coast to the Upstate.
Local businesses shown in the film include North Myrtle Beach’s Ocean Drive Barber Shop, Myrtle Beach’s Peaches Corner, Jack Thompson’s Studios and the former Pavilion. Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet is featured in the film’s intro.
Lassiter and documentary participants will be in attendance and Jack Thompson’s photographs will be on display at the movie theater. Seating will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets are not required.
“Our Vanishing Americana - A South Carolina Portrait” will make its broadcast premiere on SCETV on Aug. 11 at 9 p.m. SCETV, which stands for South Carolina Educational Television, is a state network of Public Broadcasting Service member TV stations airing across the state.
