The simple idea that parents of children with disabilities should be able to create lasting and treasured memories through sports the same way parents of typical kids do launched the Grand Strand Miracle Leagues.
Founded in 2001, it was the second all-access baseball league in the nation. Today, they offer soccer and golf, too.
Grand Strand Miracle Leagues is our March 2020 Nonprofit of the Month sponsored by South Atlantic Bank.
Games are played at the James C. Benton Miracle League field on 33rd Ave. N. in Myrtle Beach. It’s a rubberized, ADA approved field that can accommodate wheelchairs and walkers.
Their spring baseball season opens March 14. The leagues always need volunteers to be buddies with the children. An application is available online at grandstrandmiracleleague.com.
