Tell us about your business and the role you play in it.

Grand Strand SCORE is a local chapter of a national organization of volunteer mentors that helps small business owners with developing concepts, business plans, strategy and operations. Some of us are retired, while others continue to develop business interests. For SCORE, I serve both as a volunteer mentor as well as a strategist/decision maker on matters relating to marketing.

Where did your vision begin? How has it grown?

I’ve been part of Grand Strand SCORE for more than five years now. I’m proud we’ve gotten more people (and new volunteers) involved in all aspects of the chapter.

What makes your organization stand out?

It’s very unique to have built an organization bringing together this level of talent to assist businesses on a volunteer and recurring basis.

What’s your favorite part of doing business in the Grand Strand?

It’s the biggest small town I know of! We do amazing things here and the business community (including local and state government) is generally very supportive and encourages an outstanding and collegial environment. The MB Chamber and CVB is a big part of the equation when it comes to that.

Where did your career find it’s start? How did you get involved with your organization?

I’ve owned a series of businesses - starting with a mobile video disc jockey service while I was in college, a successful law practice for nearly 25 years which I retired from, an arts education center which was sold a few years ago, and most recently My Journey Begins Travel, which my fiancée and I started in the summer of 2019.
