Joint Task Force K9s Named November Nonprofit of the Month

Our November Nonprofit of the Month sponsored by South Atlantic Bank is Joint Task Force K9s!

The nonprofit was founded by Keith Holland, a retired special forces weapons sergeant with the U.S. Army. Holland served more than 18 years and was deployed for seven tours including two in Afghanistan and three in Iraq. Through his service, he struggled with PTSD and traumatic brain injuries.

Holland received a K9 service dog, Quill, in 2018. The pairing changed the course of his life, helping him heal and inspiring his new mission to help people with similar experiences.

For Holland, the story of the Joint Task Force K9s, is not about him - it's about the people they help as the nonprofit strives to "save lives one dog at a time."

The nonprofit helps active military and law enforcement members as well as veterans through K9 therapy and a service dog program.

All dogs in the program are primarily Belgian Malinois that are trained personally by Joint Task Force K9s professional in-house trainers. The dogs participate in a K9 Therapy Program which helps the dogs hone their skills as service canines while providing hope and healing for the veterans and officers. The therapy program also allows the nonprofit to assess pairing possibilities with the dogs and the service members – ensuring the dogs and the person they are homed with are a perfect match. Al services are provided with no cost to the veterans or officers.

Joint Task Force K9s is currently looking for about 5 acres of property where they can build a training center and kennel.
