MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.— The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce (MBACC) and Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) in partnership with the City of Myrtle Beach are proud to sponsor the annual Military Appreciation Days Parade on Saturday, May 27, 2023.

The parade steps off at 10:30 a.m. near the intersection of Farrow Parkway and Johnson Avenue in The Market Common and rolls along Farrow Parkway to Phillis Boulevard. More than 40 organizations will participate, including the Military Officers Association of America, the South Carolina State Guard, local veterans’ organizations, first responders, Junior ROTC drill teams, color guards, scouts and Shriners.

This year’s grand marshal is Caitlin Bassett, a U.S. Army veteran and actress, who currently plays the role of Addison Augustine on the NBC TV series “Quantum Leap.” With family residing in the Grand Strand, retired Sgt. Bassett considers the area her “second home.” Following the parade, she will greet fans at Valor Memorial Garden located along Farrow Parkway.

Four World War II and Korean War veterans from the Grand Strand will serve as honorary grand marshals:  Guerino "Fred" Volpe, Edson Meyers, Paul LaTour and Alan Green.

Following the parade, the annual Family Picnic at Valor Memorial Garden will offer patriotic entertainment, veteran meet and greets, and complimentary hamburgers and hotdogs provided by the Omar Shriners. Across the street in Grand Park, the Vietnam Traveling Wall Memorial will stand on display May 25-28.
