MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.—Partnership Grand Strand (PGS), the community foundation of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce (MBACC), is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Shaaber as Entrepreneur Retention Manager.
In this role, Shaaber is responsible for implementing a regional program designed to retain entrepreneurs and small businesses within priority industries such as aerospace, commercial construction, healthcare, manufacturing, professional services, technology and the trades.
Shaaber will report to Peggy Masterson, the director of the foundation, and work closely with the chamber, regional agencies and alliances such as eMYRge, the Myrtle Beach Regional Economic Corporation, the North Eastern Strategic Alliance and the South Carolina Dept. of Commerce.

Shaaber brings a dynamic array of experiences to the position. He founded two small businesses and served executive level positions at several for-profit and not-for-profit corporations in Virginia and Pennsylvania. Prior to that, his 20-year career in the U.S. Army led to a strategic planning position at The Pentagon. He is originally from Pennsylvania and holds a master’s degree in computer resources and information management.
“I’m looking forward to using my proven track record in collaborative leadership and strategic planning to accelerate our community’s journey toward the future with the ultimate goal of expanding sustainable career opportunities designed to retain our talented entrepreneurs here in the Grand Strand,” Shaaber said.
He resides in Myrtle Beach with his wife and in his spare time, enjoys getting together with friends, golfing, motorcycling and fishing.
