Two Men and A Truck named December 2020 Leading Business of the Month

Two Men and A Truck is our December Leading Business of the Month sponsored by South State Bank.

Two Men and A Truck is a moving company that offers both local and long distance moving services for residential and commercial moves. They also provide packing services and sell boxes and other packing materials.

The company joined the chamber in 2001. The Conway franchise is one of 380 locations across the world.

The company started in the early 1980s as a way for two brothers in Michigan to make extra money while in high school. Mary Ellen Sheets developed the logo still used today and advertised the moving services of her sons Brig and Jon Sorber in a community newspaper. By the end of the 1980s, the moving company started to franchise.

The first location outside of Michigan opened in Atlanta, Ga. in 1989, and growth has continued since for Two Men and A Truck. Movers for the company are trained, insured and bonded to handle any home or business moving tasks.

Community service is at the foundation of the company. Founder Mary Ellen Sheets donated her first profits to 10 different charities. One of their national programs is called Movers for Moms aimed at assisting moms in need. Two Men and A Truck locations nationwide collect donations to deliver to women and family shelters each spring.

The franchise in Conway has long been a supporter of Substitutes for Santa, a program by Grand Strand Young Professionals that ensures 80 local children have gifts under the tree this Christmas. Last week, Two Men and A Truck volunteered a truck to load all the presents selected for children this year and delivered it to the participating schools.
