In an effort to support the many Grand Strand nonprofits on their missions to supporting the community, Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce is publishing this monthly roundup of our nonprofit members current needs.

If you’re looking to get involved or give back, consider supporting the nonprofits below or in the chamber’s business directory.


Eagle Cold Case seeks donations to support their work assisting families of unsolved death/missing persons cases.

Gifts from the Heart is looking for items to fill baskets for seniors in the Myrtle Beach area. Items needed include: shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, toothpaste, blankets, hand soap, tissues, socks, soft baby dolls or stuffed animals, soft candy/chocolate, puzzles with large pieces.

Palmetto Literacy Council seeks sponsors and raffle donations for their golf scramble on June 8. The nonprofit also is looking for volunteers to tutor students two hours per week at the library. Learn more by calling 843-945-9278.

SOS Care seeks items for summer programs including pool noodles and floats, diving toys, water toys, water blasters and a volleyball net.

South Carolina Mental Health for Heroes is looking for sponsors who want to support the mental health veterans, first responders, healthcare professionals and their families. Sponsorships begin at $2,500.

 

The Go Get Your You Foundation is looking for sponsors to help pay speaker fees for their Juneteenth festival in Conway. People also can shop their festival registry.

The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach needs foster families for medium to large dogs (over 40 lbs). Fostering gives these dogs a chance to decompress and thrive and frees up space in the shelter for other animals in need. Learn more and submit a foster application. Additionally their wish list of donations includes: Purina Cat Chow, cat litter, hard chew toys for dogs, Pup-Peroni dog treats, paper towels, cardboard cat scratcher pads, multipurpose copy paper, Churu lickable cat treats.

The Period Project is celebrating Period Poverty Awareness Week May 20-28 with a donation drive. Donations of menstrual products will be accepted at Lucid Coast Candle Bar. Donated supplies will be given to Horry County students for their summer needs.
